TAI CHI

What is Tai Chi & Qi Gong?

Tai Chi and Qi Gong are the world’s most practiced martial arts with over 500 million practitioners worldwide. They are also described as “meditation in motion”.

Tai Chi first started in the early 18th century, developing from Qi Gong using its techniques mixed with the philosophy of ancient Chinese medicine. Tai Chi and Qi Gong are also referred to as “medicine in motion” with growing evidence pointing to these practices being valuable components in treating and/or preventing several health problems.

Tai Chi and Qi Gong are gentle and endurance building martial arts, they are low impact, slow motion types of exercise. The practitioner flows consistently through a series of motions while breathing deeply and focusing on removing physical and mental blockages. Tai Chi and Qi Gong are therefore quite different from other types of exercise as the movements are circular, never forced, and joints stay soft while your muscles are relaxed.
